Welcome and Talofa lava.
With the Samoan population consistently growing throughout the World, social norms influence the expectations of how we adjust, communicate, and mirror similar perceptions or experiences of the Fa’a Samoa way. Given other dominating and influential cultures developing the social norms within our Samoan communities here in America, Samoan Connect is determined to provide us with the appropriate tools to advance our culture and strengthen our connection with ever-changing times.
It is our duty as Samoans to develop an understanding to promote such opportunities in the Samoan culture, and truly connect to our cultural values, traditions, and roots. Whatever our interests, our journeys, and stories will be emphasized using those same lessons, battles, to improving & strengthening our walk of life – our Samoan communities, or even those disheartening individuals who lost connection or seeking guidance in obtaining an understanding of cultural values here in America, as a Samoan.
Samoan Connect is a nonprofit organization here in America, and our mission is to encourage the connection of the Samoan culture and people through engagement, encouragement, and support. A connection to sustain the longevity of the Samoan culture and language for many years, decades, even centuries to come while improving and enhancing our ways of life. Look in with an open mind and be willing to understand one another, our differences, and experiences from all sides of the spectrum as a Samoan. We genuinely believe, that understanding what we do and why we do them, is an important factor in truly knowing the core meaning of who you are and where you came from. We owe it to ourselves to take on these occasions to connect and appreciate one another’s background and differences, distributing to more than just our individual stories, but our Samoan story.
Get engaged and support your Samoan community by participating in engagement activities, discussions on Samoan traditions, culture, language, wear, music, sports, interests, etc. emphasizing what’s trending and affecting the Samoan culture today.
ENCOURAGE – EDUCATE
“Where are your parents from?”, “What part of Samoa is your family from?”, “Where are you from?” These are typical conversation starters and in fact, common to wonder where you came from or who your ancestors were and where they came from. Whether major or minor your role is, or whatever the involvement, the research we undertake will involve us personally in reliving those eras while discovering new and exciting facts about ourselves, our ancestors, and our culture.
